National Marina Day!

What are your plans for this National Marina Day? A cruise to your favorite marina? A visit to your marina to get the boat ready for cruising season?

Whatever your plans may be for Saturday, make sure you take the time to celebrate and enjoy a marina (or two?).

There are several marina’s in the Northwest that have activities planned for you…

Bremerton Marina

  • Free overnight moorage on Saturday night June 8th for all visiting boaters
  • Boater BBQ
  • Proper docking procedures and knot tying class
  • Fire extinguisher certification and training seminar
  • Boater Education Card class

Dock Street Marina/Delin Docks/ Foss Landing Marina

Representatives from Sea Hawk paints will be on hand explaining Washington State’s phase out of copper based bottom paint and the alternatives that are available

  • Kayak skills training for first time kayakers to help get them out on the water
  • Aaron Barnett from Washington Sea Grant discussing pump outs and providing deck fittings
  • Dave’s Dive Service talking about different kinds of zincs and what works best for your boat
  • Blind-folded dinghy races
  • BBQ
  • Vessel safety checks

Lake Union Skylaunch Marina

  • Innovative hands-on anchoring tutorial via a land-based simulator
    • Participants will get in a boat on a trailer and drop an anchor onto the ground; a forklift will pull the trailer back allowing the participant to peel out the anchor line, demonstrating the importance of “scope.” They will also have the ability to “pull” anchor.
    • Complimentary food and beverages

Foss Harbor Marina

  • Onsite vessel safety checks
  • Fire extinguisher certifications
  • Coast Guard auxiliary seminars
  • Live band, kids games, raffles and a pit BBQ

Ocean Alexander Marina

  • 30 minute sailing lessons courtesy Lake Union Charters
  • Moss Bay Rowing kayaks available for free rental
  • Complimentary snacks and drinks

Point Defiance Marina

  • 75% discount on rental boats
  • 15 minute fishing tutorials offered hourly from 11am to 5pm. The tutorials will cover basic fishing instructions including setting up a rod, knot tying and basic techniques.

Port of Edmonds

  • Knot tying classes courtesy Sea Scouts
  • Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel inspections
  • Paint company representatives on hand distributing information about copper free bottom paint alternatives
  • Educational material about anodes, recycling and hazardous waste
  • BBQ and jazz music

Salmon Bay Marina

  • BBQ
    • Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel inspections

Shilshole Bay Marina

  • Free boat rides
  • Swap meet
  • Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel inspections
  • Kids life vest program display
