In 1918 the Port of Everett was established. Since then the port has gone through a series of transformations.
In the late 1920’s the commercial fishing industry boomed, creating a large presence of marine related business. The hard times of the Depression allowed the Port the opportunity to aquire property adjacent to the 14th Street Wharf from down-on-their-luck business owners.
The outbreak of World War II created another shift for the Port of Everett. The Navy utilized the shipbuilding capabilty of the port to support the pacific fleet. This activity forced the Port to relocate the pleasure boats to what is now the North Marina (14th Street).
In 1962 the last mill left the area and in 1965 the Port completed a 950 slip marina creating what we now know as the North Marina. In 1980 the marina was expanded again adding walkways, restautants, shops and an additional 1200 slips now known as the South Marina.
In 1984, Everett was selected to be a U.S. Navy homeport and in 1987 the Port of Everett sold 110 acres of the shipping terminals. In 1994 Naval Station Everett officially opened.
In 2008 the 12th Street Yacht basin was completed making the Port of Everett Marina the largest public marina on the West Coast (2,300 slips).
