Vashon IslandConvenient. Vashon Island? Back in the day it was the link between Seattle and Tacoma. Dockton, now simply a park, was at one time much, much more. In 1891, the largest dry dock on the West Coast was moved to this very spot.
The 100 foot wide and over 300 foot long dry dock was built in Port Hadlock. It was a busy place until 1909 when the dry dock moved to Seattle.
