Everett is a well known marina in our area, one that has always been there as a safe haven, a marina with everything you might “need”.
For those headed up to the Islands or just looking for a weekend get-away, would Everett come to mind as a destination when making your cruising plans?
I know I was surprised as I started the process of discovering all that Everett has to offer. When I purchased my current boat close to two years ago, it was moored in Everett and the slip was easily transferable. So we decided to leave it there for the time being and see how we liked it. The location has been a very nice surprise.
For guest boaters there are the standard amenities like showers, bathrooms, pump out and fuel. On the north end of the marina, Harbor Marine is there for all your boating supply needs and the newly added Fisherman’s Grocery Store is now in place to provide anything that you may have forgot to bring along. There is even a restaurant/cafe slated to open sometime this summer!
The Marina has two Activity Barges available for all group events. Available for $100, you can create a private space for your group. If five or more boats are in your armada you can get use a barge for free, perfect for club cruises and parties. Click for details on how to Reserve the Activity Barge.
There are restaurants like Anthony’s and Woodfire, Scuttlebutt Brew Pub and Lombardi’s. There are also a couple of cafes, Meyer’s Cafe and Cafe@ Marina to help you with your coffee problem. At the South Marina, AquaTrek is your resource for kayaking (rentals available) and has a jack of all-trades type of store offering everything from beer and wine to nuts and boats.
Everett’s little “secret” is Jetty Island. Once you get tied up and settled in, just take a short dinghy ride (there is an available passenger ferry in the summer) over to Jetty Island and you have entered into another world. Sandy beaches and warm water invite you to wade or even swim in the water. Sit and relax with a picnic while you gaze to the west toward Gedney (Hat), Whidbey and Camano Islands. Bring binoculars and see if you can spot some Gray Whales, especially in the spring.
So, this isn’t what you had in mind when you read “Discover Everett”? There really is a lot going on here. Entertainment options include the Sunday Farmers Market (June 3rd to October 7th, 11am to 4pm) and free, Thursday Night, Saturday Night and Sunday Afternoon Concert Series‘ right on the pier.
On June 25th the “Jetty Jam” takes place, a Stand-Up Paddle Board and Kite Boarding Challenge!
Feeling lucky? There is a free shuttle to and from the Tulalip Resort and Casino, an easy way to double your gas money!
If you are really looking to just have a nice relaxing time, Everett Marina is the largest public marina on the west coast so there is plenty of space to just chill out on the dock, have a glass of wine and visit with the fellow boaters.
Everett is just 22 nautical miles from the Locks and/or Shilshole Marina and just 31 nautical miles from Bell Harbor in Downtown Seattle.
