2012 Puget Sound Grand Banks Rendezvous

Anytime I am able to “check in” on my smartphone from Roche Harbor Resort and Marina I am a happy man. The 2012 Puget Sound100_2979 Grand Banks Rendezvous was the excuse this time for visiting one of my favorite places in the world.
The weather was great, the boats were fantastic and I had the pleasure of meeting some great people on some great boats!
In addition to the social aspect (an event that begins with a bocce ball tournament is going to be a good time!) and a cruise to a desirable destination, a current trend for many Rendezvous’ is to have some classes, speakers and/or seminars on the itinerary.

The PSGBO seminars included U.S. Customs agents who spoke about the latest “dos and don’ts” in border crossing, tips on crabbing and prawning, diesel engine maintenance, marine batteries and charging systems, and the latest from Grand Banks. Philbrooks Boatyard was one of the sponsors and Drew was on hand to answer questions about their services.

A Women-on-the-Water training program was offered which many of the ladies attended and found very informative. The Local Power Squadron was also on hand and conducted free vessel safety inspections on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday afternoon a catered New York Kosher Street Dog lunch was hosted by Garmin. And that night it was one big pot luck and wine tasting event hosted by Wells IMAG1633Fargo Insurance.  Finally, the festivities were capped off with a Saturday night dinner, hosted by Grand Banks and Cummins.
Thank you Grand Banks for inviting us up to witness such a fun event, I hope you’ll have us back next year! To all the Grand Banks folks and sponsors it was nice to meet you all and we hope to see you out on the water!
All the best from Cruising Northwest!
